Profile Information

Please enter your Real Full Name:
Dale Loyd (yes, only one 'L' in Loyd...)
About Me:
After graduation, I worked in local music shops and studied Audio Engineering at MTSU for two years, then dropped out to take a job at Rhythm City in Atlanta (now part of the Guitar Center chain), moving back to Nashville a year later. I finished university on and off over the next few years and eventually went to work for Studio Audio & Video ( www.sadie.com ) in 1995. SADiE is a small British company making computer audio editing systems for remastering CDs, mixing surround sound for DVDs, and editing audio for radio/film/TV. While in the Nashville office, my clients included Kevin Killen (Peter Gabriel, U2, Elvis Costello), Rudy Van Gelder (jazz recording great), and I worked on a Grammy-winning album for Marty Stuart (one of the songs on his MCA album 'The Pilgrim' won Best Country Instrumental in 2000).

In June 1999, I transferred to SADiE's head office in Cambridge, UK, about an hour north of London. While working there, I oversaw installations at Radio France (Paris), Technicolor (London), Sony Whitfield Street (London), and held training seminars at BBC Radio and Abbey Road Studios. I also got to do a bit of travelling, with trade shows in Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Amsterdam, and New York, and trips to customers in Germany, Spain, and Portugal.

I left SADiE in 2004 and worked as an Audio Producer for the Royal National Institute of the Blind (www.rnib.org.uk) in London, creating radio programmes, audiobooks, and interactive websites with people like Michael Palin (Monty Python), children's writer Jacqueline Wilson (Tracy Beaker), and poets Benjamin Zephaniah, John Hegley and Pam Ayres. When not in studio, I was part of a small team of engineers remastering and restoring RNIB's 30,000 1/4" analog tape recordings dating back to 1965. I also worked with speech synthesizer companies to help make computers and the Internet more accessible to blind and partially-sighted people.

In July 2007, I became a British Citizen/Dual National, and now hold both an American and a UK/EU passport. With these, I can live and work anywhere in the US or European Union without need of permits.

I left RNIB in July 2009, and am currently working for DiGiCo ( www.digico.biz ). DiGiCo design and manufacture large digital audio mixers for acts such as Aerosmith, Lenny Kravitz, Jean-Michel Jarre, Anastasia, and ZZ Top use when they're on tour, or are installed in live venues and theaters for plays and events.
What years did you attend Whites Creek?
1985-1989, but somehow it seemed longer.
What extra curricular activities did you participate?
Newspaper/Yearbook photographer.
What is your occupation? (for networking purposes)
Audio Engineer
What is your current city & state of residence?
Epsom, Greater London, United Kingdom. Second house on the right.

My first UK band, 1999: Marcello (guitar), Ali (vocals), me (drums), and Andy (bass).

TCMB, 2004: Ant (bass), Craig (drums), me (keys), Christena (vocals), Richard (guitar).

Dale, I hope you see this door close on your current job as a great chance for another wonderful door or two to open. I am so glad that Jerri found you. We had a blast with her at our last dinner and hope that she is able to make many more. If you are ever home, you should join us too!!! Best of luck.
