This is what I think... Please put in your opinion... The Media to me has no business being anywhere near where there is fighting going on. They release to much information on places we are or are going to be. 99% of the time we only get the bad news not news where we are actually helping people.
Will we ever win??? I think we can win any War as far as fighting goes.. But can we change a foreign country?? I hope we can help get rid of the inhumane people and help the good people take back what was once there way of living. I think a lot of people don't understand that there are generations of people that no of nothing but war. When you have someone that will stand in the middle of a street a throw a rock at a Tank. How easy do you think it will be to change there mind about the way they believe??? Tell me what you think.. A little conversation starter....

One thing we have to be careful about regarding military and foreign policy is using the media alone to help us make judgments. The conflicts (it's not even a traditional war...if you've been there you know that) in Iraq (and Afghanistan) are a policy (Bush doctrine of preemptive strikes in sovereign foreign territories). Staying or leaving is not about "winning" it's about policy (deterrence and stabilization, neither of which lasts forever). As for the civilian defense force...don't think militaristic "defense" (e.g., militia, etc.), think about protective and deterrent defense, which involve homeland security (preparation for domestic disasters (natural and terrorist), diplomacy, foreign affairs, economic trade, etc. So, community organizing and policing, sanitation, first aid training, public private partnerships for service, foreign language training, etc. The theory is that the best way to protect America is to not be vulnerable in areas traditionally run by government. Obama's theory is that the people are the best protectors of their homeland. This was the philosophy by which the country was founded. Okay, sorry to ramble, but the holiday break gave me too much time to catch up with the sites. DW

My little brother just came back from Iraq. Even though he returned safely, I lost the person that he was before he left. I can't imagine seeing my best friend, blown up and his upper torso landing three feet in front of me. I am so proud that he chose to make that sacrifice, so that all us are able to keep the freedoms that we so often take for granted. Please remember all of our troops who have not made it home. I ask that each of you will include our troops and their families in your daily prayers.
